Pumpkin juice in glass with pumpkin and bottle from Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

This easy Pumpkin Juice recipe is a copycat of the drink found at Universal Studios Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Start brewing it in the fall and again on July 31st, which is Harry's birthday!

Cup of pumpkin juice next to a bottle of pumpkin juice from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
Pumpkin juice, similar to the kind at Universal Studios, is perfect for Fall celebrations, like Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Not that you need an excuse to enjoy pumpkin juice. This non-alcoholic drink is the perfect blend of apple cider, apricot nectar, pumpkin puree, and spices. It's a refreshing, cool drink with spicy fall flavors that's always a hit at special events.

It's a must for any Harry Potter-themed party, including birthdays and Halloween! Serve it alongside 3-Ingredient Harry Potter Golden Snitch Truffles, no-bake Pumpkin Dip, and chocolate frogs!

I've seen many variations around the internet. But, this copycat definitely passes the taste test. I know because, living in central Florida, we've had more than our share of this famous drink from the theme park.

    Ingredients

Here's what you need to make pumpkin juice that anyone from Hogwarts would approve of:

Labeled ingredients to make pumpkin juice: apple cider, pumpkin puree, apple pie spice, pear nectar.
It takes just 4 ingredients to make this easy recipe.
    • Fresh Apple Cider. Apple juice and apple juice concentrate can be used. But, we really felt that the flavor profile was different than the original.
    • Apricot, pear, or peach nectar. These can be found at most grocery stores in little juice box-size containers or small cans. Apricot nectar is the best one to use if you're trying to mimic the one you buy at the park. But, all of them are delightful.
    • Apple Pie or Pumpkin Pie spice. We are partial to the apple pie blend, but either one will work. See a DIY version for apple pie below.

Below are the ingredients listed on a bottle purchased at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Ingredients listed on the bottle of Pumpkin Juice from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Please see the recipe card at the bottom of this post for the complete list of ingredients with measurements plus recipe instructions.

    Apple Pie Spice

If you don't want to buy apple pie spice, make your own blend by combining:

    • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
    • ¾ teaspoon allspice
    • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

This will yield more than you need. Save the rest for a second batch!

    Directions

Pumpkin juice is simple to prepare. Just add all of the ingredients to a blender and combine! An immersion blender also works well. Or, you can stir it really, really well by hand.

Ingredients for Harry Potter Pumpkin Juice in a blender.

It's enjoyed cold, so add a few ice cubes if you want.

After a while, the ingredients may begin to settle. If this happens, re-stir to combine everything.

Optional garnishes: Cinnamon sticks, apple slices

2 mugs of pumpkin juice with a large pitcher and pumpkin behind it.
This spiced pumpkin drink is traditionally served cold but can be served warm too.

Ask someone if they've ever tried this drink and you've opened the door to discussions about Harry Potter, favorite books, Orlando, and which house you would be in at Hogwarts. Try it!

    Storage, Make Ahead

Make pumpkin juice ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week. Stir to recombine before serving.

    FAQ

What does pumpkin juice taste like?

Pumpkin juice tastes a lot like a variation of apple cider which is the main ingredient. It's fruitier and the profile changes depending upon the type of nectar used. It's also a bit spicier.

    Is pumpkin juice actually good?

Most people are surprised at how delicious pumpkin juice is the first time they try it. It does have some nutritional benefits from the added pumpkin and fruit juices. However, it's important to keep an eye on the sugar content.

    Can you buy pumpkin juice?

The official beverage from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter can only be found through the theme park.

Can you serve pumpkin juice warm?

Harry Potter's pumpkin juice is traditionally served cold. However, it would be fantastic warmed and served with cinnamon sticks.

You don't have to wait for a visit to Universal Studios to try this famous drink.

Is it sacrilege to suggest that it might be a nice warm drink too? Those flavors sound wonderful and I can just imagine sticking my nose in a nice warm cup of that. Perhaps with just a tiny whiff of rum. 🙂

Does the recipe use Apple Pie Spice? Or Pumpkin Pie Spice?

It calls for apple pie spice, but I think it would taste good with pumpkin spice too!

I work at the YMCA on weekends and made it on Saturday with the pear nectar and on Sunday with peach nectar, that's all I could find. Both were a big hit with 99% of the patrons!

Delicious! I didn't have pear nectar, but just subbed water. It was still plenty sweet from the cider. Thank you for this simple and delicious pumpkin juice recipe.

This tastes very similar to the recipe we get at Universal Studios! It is by-far the most accurate of the "clone recipes." We love it. We add a little extra pumpkin and I mull the whole spices in the apple juice for a bit (to get rid of some of the powdery texture we get because we add the extra spices. We have brought this to Wizards Unite games and it is quite a hit! Thanks for doing the research! 🙂

I was just wondering what the shelf life of this is? I would just like to have it prepped before the party.
