Ingredients
You'll need 4 core ingredients to make this recipe.

Of special note:
- Ripe Hass avocado - It should be dark purple and give slightly when pressed with your finger.
- Lemon juice - I always use lemon juice, but lime juice can be used instead.
- Onion - Red onions are mild and add color, so they're always my first choice. Substitute white onions in a pinch.
- Tomatoes are optional. I use plum tomatoes because they're easy to seed and chop.
Variations
- If you like heat, add a smidgen of red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeño.
- If you love cilantro by all means, add it! If I have it on hand, I do.
- Although I provide exact measurements below, the amount of tomato and onion are up to you. A little extra tomato never hurts.

Thanks for this recipe. My husband does not normally like avocado texture or taste; but he liked this. i used a red chili pepper (with seeds removed ) and 2 shallots for the onions. Lovely.
