These healthy alternatives to potato chips will satisfy your need to crunch and sneak fruits and vegetables into your diet too!
Who doesn't love crispy chips or fries dunked in their favorite dip?
Below you'll find fruits and vegetables made into chips or fries, plus a few other chip-like munchies that check the box for healthy. They're all fantastic substitutes for chips and pair well with many low-carb game day recipes.
Most are from The Dinner-Mom site, and all are vegetarian/vegan, and gluten-free, except for one! But, you'll also find some recipes from around the web that are on my bucket list to make. 🙂
None require special equipment (although a dehydrator may seem like a good idea once you're on a roll making these regularly.) Use the oven or an air fryer to make them.
It takes a bit of patience to wait while fruits and veggies bake to perfection in a standard oven. So we added directions to make these in the microwave too!
The fascination with homemade vegetable chips often begins with sweet potatoes. These chips are hearty enough to withstand a little dipping! They're delicious loaded up like nachos too.
When beets bake in the oven, they sweeten and become oh-so-good! They're pretty too. We used red beets, but they come in a variety of colors and are the perfect alternative to potato chips with a sandwich.
Kale chips are light and papery and disappear very quickly. They also make a wonderful, crunchy salad topper.
Fruit chips, such as apple chips, would be perfect for dessert nachos! Use your favorite sweet apple and sprinkle with cinnamon. Your house will smell amazing.
6. Pear Chips
Dip these in chocolate. Or not, either way. These are a delicious way to enjoy crisp pears.
These cheesy chips stand alone and are a nice accompaniment to soups and salads. Mix Parmesan cheese with your favorite veggie shreds, like zucchini or carrot, for a colorful and healthy chip.
8. Carrot Fries
This is an easy way to step into the delicious world of vegetable "fries." These don't taste like the greasy kind. But, they sure are tasty, especially dipped in a yogurt dill sauce.
It's easy to eat your greens when they're baked in cheese and drizzled with a balsamic yogurt sauce.
10. Okra Fries
Okra "fries" are another easy way to enjoy healthy veggies like a fry. Use frozen whole okra and cook them the way you would cook frozen french fries! It doesn't get any easier than that.

Roasted chickpeas are another plant-based snack and a great way to satisfy the crunch! Bake them in the oven or use an air fryer to crisp them to your liking. Then, toss them with your favorite spices or sauces. A few of our favorites are
You don't usually indulge in popcorn at a meal. But, it certainly is an option at a party. Our savory popcorn is spritzed with olive oil and tossed with fresh herbs and cheese, which keeps the need for extra salt to a minimum.
13. Low-Carb Tortilla Chips
